Established in 1967, Leicester Riders are the oldest professional basketball team in the UK.

They are also one of the country’s most successful, having won 19 titles in the top tier of basketball in the UK, the British Basketball League. Leicester Riders stand on a strong fan base that supports all of their triumphs.

The club’s impact is felt throughout its community through the community efforts of the Leicester Riders Foundation.

They currently boast one of the most decorated and longest-serving coaches in the British Basketball League, Head Coach Rob Paternostro.

The Leicester fans and community are what help make the club a huge success. Through their help with fundraising and support, the Riders can excel knowing that they have a family-like fan base rooting for them every season.

British Basketball League

The British Basketball League, formed in 1987, is the leading men’s professional basketball league in the United Kingdom and represents the highest level of the professional game in the country, featuring players from around the UK, Europe and the US.

The League operates under the FIBA Europe Federation. It is contested by 10 teams from major cities across England and Scotland.

The League is broadcast live on the British Basketball League YouTube Channel and Sky Sports. The League runs two additional knockout competitions alongside the Regular Season, which are the Trophy and the end-of-season Play-offs.
