Leicester Riders will face Newcastle Eagles, London Lions and Sheffield Sharks in the group phase of the BBL Cup.
The eleven BBL teams are split into three groups with the bottom teams being eliminated ahead of the knockout stages.
The BBL have grouped the competitions four most successful teams together, having won 12 BBL Cup’s between them. They are also the only four teams in the league’s history to have won the competition more than once.
The schedule sees Riders host Eagles on the 8th November at 5pm before the return on Friday 13th. Riders then host London Lions on Sunday 15th before travelling to the capital on Sunday 22nd. Riders line-up against Sheffield in-between those games on Friday 20th before the group phase is concluded on Friday 27th.
BBL COO Andy Webb said, “We are delighted to finally get the season launched after the very positive messages of support from the Government.”
“Of course, it won’t be the same without the fans being at the venues but all the players are keen to get to proper competition after a very long pre-season. The BBL Cup will be first up, just like last season, and then we will start the BBL Championship in early December. Those fixtures will also be
announced as soon as practical.”
It is also confirmed that all home games will be available for Riders fans to watch via an online stream – more information on this will be announced shortly.
