One of key aims for the Leicester Riders Foundation is to work within the local community to increase participation in basketball across Leicester and Leicestershire. We also endeavour to deliver sustainable programmes that promote health and wellbeing.

As part of this, the Foundation provides weekly sessions around Leicester to young people of all ages, and all abilities. Not only are events held at the Morningside Arena, but in schools across Leicester. Events are all low cost to attend, with free to attend sessions also held on Friday nights at New College Leicester and Beaumont Leys School.

During half terms and some Bank Holidays, the Foundation will also put on all-day sessions at the Mattioli Arena. These sessions are open to anyone between the ages of 8 and 17, and as with all our community sessions, are available regardless of ability.

All sessions are taken by the Foundation’s expert coaches, with the aim of helping attendees improve their skills, and well as encouraging them to enjoy their basketball, in the hope that they return for more sessions in the future.

Each session will have other aims built into it, often depending on the ages of those participating, ranging from encouraging people to get involved in basketball, to introducing them to the more complex features of the game.
