Leicester Riders chasing Championship title
Leicester Riders beat Surrey 89ers 91-84 last time out in SLB action, battling out a victory in a stern test.
They’re now just a game back from the league leading London Lions, with the Lions still to play midweek. A win on Wednesday would give Leicester the head-to-head on the season against London, putting them in the drivers seat for the league title.
But there’s three teams in the title fight. Sheffield Sharks are lurking behind, ready to capitalise on any slip ups from the top two. If they were to win out they would only require on Riders loss in order to win Championship gold.
Therefore, every game is crucial for Leicester down the home stretch, including this Sunday’s battle against the Phoenix.
Riders look to complete season sweep over Phoenix
The Riders beat Cheshire Phoenix last time out, on the second of a back-to-back weekend.
It was a professional 91-78 win on the road the day after an overtime battle against Sheffield Sharks, making it two wins in as many days for the Riders and putting them in the driver’s seat for their own Championship destiny.
Leicester had seven players in double digits led by 18 from Jaylin Hunter.
The win made it 3-0 against the Phoenix on the season, the sternest test coming on December 1 where the Riders survived a late Cheshire charge on the road, winning 88-86.
This is the most pivotal of all the fixtures however, with the Riders in the midst of an intense title battle and needing every victory, especially at home.
