Leicester Riders Sign Guard Donald Carey Jr for 2025/26 Super League Season

Leicester Riders are pleased to announce the signing of Donald Carey Jr, a dynamic 6′5″ guard, for the 2025/26 Super League Basketball season.

Carey Jr most recently played in the New Zealand NBL with the Otago Nuggets, where he impressed throughout the 2024-25 campaign. His standout performance came in a game on March 21, 2025 where he recorded 34 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists against Auckland Tuatara. Carey posted impressive averages of 22.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game, in 16 appearances for the Nuggets.

Prior to his time in New Zealand, Carey Jr played 2 seasons in the NBA-affiliated G League with the Maine Celtics, the developmental team for the Boston Celtics. Carey Jr helped Maine win the 2023 G-League Eastern conference championship. 

Carey Jr graduated from the University of Maryland in 2023 after averaging 7.2 points per game for the Terrapins across 33 games. Prior to transferring to Maryland for his final year of college eligibility, Carey Jr had a standout career at Georgetown University. In his second season with the team, Carey Jr averaged a college career high 13.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
