Leicester Riders Foundation Take Over Highcross with a Day of Basketball Fun!

Last week, the Leicester Riders Foundation brought basketball to the heart of the city with an exciting Highcross Takeover, engaging the community in a day full of energy, prizes, and giveaways.

Throughout the day, the Foundation ran a series of fun basketball activities — from shooting drills and mini challenges to interactive games — giving people of all ages the chance to test their skills and learn more about the sport. The atmosphere was amazing, with shoppers and families stopping by to join in the fun and celebrate the Riders’ community spirit.

A highlight of the day was the appearance of Leicester Riders Legend Conner Washington, who met with families to introduce our newly launched Satellite Clubs — an exciting initiative designed to create more opportunities for young people across the city to get involved in basketball and stay active.

Over 400 participants took part in our giveaways, with hundreds of tickets and merch handed out to upcoming Leicester Riders Men’s and Women’s Super League Basketball games. It was fantastic to see so many people excited to experience live basketball and support their local team.

We were thrilled to be joined by Head Coach Nick Moodey, along with Riders players Kian Omer-Jones and Brooke Biggot, who spent time meeting fans, signing autographs, and sharing tips on the court. The event also featured appearances from our Men’s team Flynn Boardman-Raffet and Travis Evee, who helped make the day even more memorable.

The Leicester Riders Foundation would like to thank everyone who came down to take part and made the Highcross Takeover such a success. Events like this are at the heart of what we do — connecting with our community, inspiring young people, and spreading the love of basketball across Leicester.

Stay up to date with our latest community activities or check out one of our upcoming Community Sessions hosted around Leicester and at the Mattioli Arena.
