Charnwood College Riders defeat Derby Trailblazers Academy in their WEABL Summer Showcase opener, 64-52.

After one lead change in the first quarter, the Riders remained in control throughout the contest. A three from both Molly James and Kate Davies helped the hosts go on a 8-point scoring run in the first. However, Derby scraped their way back  to make it a 3-point game to start the second quarter. Despite all efforts from the Trailblazers, Charnwood went on a tear in the second half extending their lead to 18 points. Just like the EABL team, Charnwood’s depth was a key contributor to the team’s success as they had 27 bench points compared to Derby’s 13.

Kacey Cox led the Riders with an 11 point and 11 rebound double-double, whist Lovatt had 16 points for the Trailblazers.
