Leicester Riders rising stars Tomide Akinsiku and Katie Januszewska have been named to the Great Britain senior 3×3 training camp long list ahead of the upcoming FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Qualifiers.
Akinsiku enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Riders during the latter stages of the 2025-26 season, stepping into a larger role amid injuries and roster changes. Having joined the Loughborough Riders programme last summer, the athletic forward quickly established himself as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects, earning the admiration of Riders fans with his fearless approach and highlight-reel athleticism.

Capable of impacting the game above the rim on both ends of the floor, Akinsiku became an important contributor in Coach Rob Paternostro’s rotation, helping guide a shorthanded Riders squad to a fifth-place finish in the Super League Basketball Championship and a Play-Off Semi-Final appearance.
The call-up marks Akinsiku’s first involvement with the senior Great Britain 3×3 programme. He already has international 3×3 experience, having represented Great Britain’s U23 team at the FIBA 3×3 Nations League last summer alongside Riders teammates Flynn Boardman-Raffet and Victor Ndoukou under the guidance of Riders assistant coach Will Maynard.
On the women’s side, Januszewska has also earned her first senior 3×3 call-up after already establishing herself as a regular within the Great Britain 5v5 setup. The former SLBW Young Player of the Year and two-time British Team of the Year selection is coming off another outstanding season in Riders colours, averaging 15.6 points per game during the 2025-26 campaign.
Like Akinsiku, Januszewska represented Great Britain’s U23 3×3 team at last summer’s Nations League and now has the opportunity to take the next step onto the senior international stage. With an already impressive résumé at both club and international level, she will be aiming to secure a place on the final roster following next week’s training camp.

Everyone at Leicester Riders congratulates Tomide and Katie on their selections and wishes them the very best as they compete for places in the Great Britain squad for the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Qualifiers.
