Leicester Riders are delighted to confirm that exciting British talent Tomide Akinsiku will continue with the Riders’ SLB squad for the 2026/27 season.
Akinsiku made a significant impact during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, quickly becoming a favourite among the Mattioli Arena crowd thanks to his athleticism, energy and exciting performances at both ends of the court.
Having joined the club last year as a member of the Loughborough Riders British Championship Basketball squad, Akinsiku was given his opportunity at professional level after being called up to the first team in the second half of the season. The forward seized his opportunity, demonstrating not only his considerable talent, but also the mentality and competitiveness required to perform at the highest level.
Ahead of the new season, Akinsiku will continue to be available for the Loughborough Riders while taking on a more permanent role within the Leicester Riders first-team SLB squad.
A powerful presence on both ends of the floor, Akinsiku has quickly established a reputation for his elite rim protection, explosive athleticism and ability to make an impact offensively. His continued progression represents another exciting step in his development and further highlights the strength of the Leicester Riders development pathway.
With the 2026/27 season on the horizon, Akinsiku is looking forward to building on his breakthrough campaign.
