Carey Jr graduated from the University of Maryland in 2023 after averaging 7.2 points per game for the Terrapins across 33 games. Prior to transferring to Maryland for his final year of college eligibility, Carey Jr had a standout career at Georgetown University. In his second season with the team, Carey Jr averaged a college career high 13.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
