Riders Ready for 90’s Rewind Clash Against Newcastle Eagles

Leicester Riders host long-time rivals Newcastle Eagles in the Super League Basketball Championship this Sunday, 8th February, tip-off at 3:00pm, for a special 90’s Rewind Night at the Mattioli Arena.

Both teams are coming off disappointing results. Riders were left frustrated last time out, falling 89–80 to Surrey 89ers in the Championship, while the Eagles have had a difficult season themselves. However, Newcastle did make a TLB Trophy final appearance last Sunday, where they were defeated by the London Lions, showing that they can still raise their game in the big moments.

One to watch for the home side will be Donald Carey Jr, who continues his sensational form and has recently been nominated for Molten Super League Basketball Player of the Month for January. Expect Carey Jr to lead the Riders’ charge alongside key contributors like RaeQuan Battle, Marc Loving, and Spencer Johnson, all of whom have been influential this season.

The Eagles, despite a challenging campaign, remain a dangerous opponent with their experience and physical style of play. Expect a fiercely contested clash as these old rivals meet once again.

With the 90’s theme in full swing, the atmosphere is set to be electric as the Riders look to bounce back from last week’s defeat and make a statement in front of the home crowd.
