Looking to Respond

The Riders’ three-game winning run came to an end last time out, narrowly falling 82–70 to the London Lions in the Capital. Despite the loss, there were positives to build on as Donald Carey Jr. continued his impressive form, leading the scoring with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Aaron Menzies was a constant presence in the paint, while Travis Evee provided key contributions on the offensive end.

With the Trophy offering a fresh opportunity, Head Coach Rob Paternostro will be eager for his side to rediscover their rhythm and return to winning ways.

Last Time Out vs Cheshire

When the two sides last met on Halloween night, the Riders triumphed 95–93 at the Mattioli Arena after a tense, back-and-forth game.

RaeQuan Battle led the charge that night with 24 points and 6 rebounds, while Donald Carey Jr. delivered a near triple-double performance with 18 points, 10 assists, and 5 rebounds. but it was Captain Spencer Johnson who led by example with an impressive double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, earning him the Trophies Plus Medals Player of the Game.

That narrow win showcased Leicester’s resilience and ability to close out tight contests — something they’ll look to replicate on the road in Cheshire.

The Opposition

Cheshire Phoenix come into the matchup looking to make a statement in their own Trophy campaign. Frankie Policelli and Tobias Cameron have been standout performers, both capable of scoring in bunches, while Skyler White provides valuable outside shooting.

The Riders’ defence will need to be sharp to contain a Phoenix side that moves the ball well and can heat up quickly from beyond the arc.

What to Expect

With both teams eager to start their Super League Basketball Trophy run on a high, fans can expect another intense encounter. The Riders will aim to rediscover their offensive flow through Carey Jr. and Battle, while using their frontcourt strength — led by Menzies and Sulaiman — to control the boards.

Tip-off is set for Sunday 9th November at 5:30pm at Cheshire Oaks Arena, as the Riders go in search of their first Trophy win of the season.
