Pathway to Excellence

in Basketball & Education

Charnwood College Basketball Academy is a key part of the Leicester Riders Pathway Progression, providing elite training and academic opportunities for some of the top young basketball talent from across the UK.

Based in Loughborough, our academy supports student-athletes in balancing a rigorous basketball schedule with high-level education.

Academic & Athletic Excellence

All academy players study three A-Levels alongside their basketball training, ensuring they develop both academically and athletically. As part of the England Development Pathway (EDP), our students also complete the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE)—a programme designed for athletes with the potential to compete at the highest levels of the sport.

High-Level Competition

Charnwood College competes against other EDP institutions across the UK and participates in:

  • Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) – The premier league for top male college basketball players.
  • Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League (WEABL) – The highest level of female college basketball competition.

Charnwood College Basketball Academy provides the perfect environment for dedicated athletes to develop their skills, compete at an elite level, and take the next step toward professional or collegiate basketball careers.

Additionally, our athletes have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the National Basketball League (NBL) through a variety of teams, including:

  • NBL Division 3 Men’s
  • NBL Division 2 Women’s
  • JNBL U18 Boys & Girls
