Leicester Riders are delighted to announce the signing of American centre Nate Martin ahead of the 2025–26 Super League Basketball season.
The 6’9” centre lands in Leicester following a strong senior year at Marshall University in NCAA D1, playing and starting all 33 games for the Herd. Martin averaged a double-double in his senior year posting 10.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, whilst also contributing heavily on the defensive end registering a team high 44 blocks for the season. Martin led the Sun Belt Conference in offensive rebounding in the 2023-24 season.

Before Marshall, Martin played three seasons at Texas state. During his time there, he helped the Cowboys to back to back Sun Belt Conference championships in his first two years, with career averages of 5.1 points and 3.4 points per game at Texas.

Martin arrives in Leicester as a rookie, and had this to say to about signing first professional contract:
“Playing professional basketball has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. I am super excited to join a club with such a great tradition of success, and I look forward to doing whatever I can to carry on that winning tradition.”
Martin becomes coach Rob Paternostro’s sixth signing of the summer. He added:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Nate Martin to the team. He had an excellent college career and over the last couple of seasons at Marshall, he established himself as one of the toughest, most consistent rebounders in his conference. He impacts the game on both ends — he owns the glass, can score in the post, moves the ball, and can step out and handle it on the perimeter. He’s a smart player with a high basketball IQ, and you see that in the way he reads the game, makes the right plays, and competes every possession.”
