Leicester Riders are excited to announce the signing of British forward Louisa Gibbins on a
long term deal.
Gibbins joins the Riders roster alongside furthering her studies with our partners at
Loughborough University, where she will compete for the University in the BUCS competition
and for our Loughborough Riders NBL Division 1 women’s team.
Out of the powerhouse Ipswich & Copleston basketball academy, Gibbins was named the
2024-25 WEABL Defensive player of the year whilst also appearing in the WEABL South Allfirst
team, helping Ipswich to back to back Division 1 women’s national titles. Gibbins led
division 1 with 11.4 rebounds per game, being named to the 2024-25 British team of the
year.
Gibbins has also represented on the national stage at u18 & u20 age groups, whilst also
suiting up on the 3×3 stage at the u23 nations league. Alongside her national team
experience, Gibbins has made 2 appearances at the prestigious Hoopsfix all-star classic.
Head Coach Nick Moodey commented:
“We’re thrilled to have Louisa commit to the Riders program.”
“Louisa was one of the top players across Division 1 and WEABL last season with plenty of
accolades to support this. Her physicality and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor
make her ready to step up to the SLB level and we’re excited to see her development this
season.”
