Inclusion

Inclusion

Leicester Riders Foundation work closely with Mencap to deliver the Round the World Challenge.

Round the World Challenge aims to support people with a learning disability to get out and get active in a way that is flexible, fun and motivating.

We worked with North Warwickshire and Hinckley College Foundation studies department to deliver a 12-week basketball programme which focused on the students taking part in a variety of teamwork and communication activities to complete their first Round the world project.

“Leicester Riders ran a fantastic MENCAP around the world session. It really helped the students develop vital teamwork skills and get active again. They loved the basketball sessions and the fantastic coaches adapted the sessions to make them inclusive for all learners. We would love to work with them again.” Quote from Rhien Shephard, Foundation Studies Lecturer , NWHC

Menphys

Leicester Riders Foundation are currently working with Menphys in South Leicestershire, to deliver a weekly afterschool club for their service users.

LRF delivered a four-week inclusive activity summer programme at the Menphys hub during Jult 2021 , designed for young people aged 10-24 that work with Menphys.

The sessions were a great success and we are aiming to host our first disability-friendly activity half-term camp in February 2022.
