The Leicester Riders are delighted to announce that Katie Januszewska has signed a new one-year contract extension with the club.
A graduate of the Charnwood College Riders, KJ joined the professional team for the first time in the 2023/24 season, signing a long-term deal with the club which saw her compete for the Riders alongside her studies at our partner institution, Loughborough University. With that contract now complete, KJ has put pen to paper on a new contract extension to keep her in Riders red for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Januszewska has had a stellar Riders career thus far in which she received her first senior international Great Britain call-up, was named the 2024/25 SLBW Young player of the year, and has twice been named in the SLBW British team of the year in both the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.
This summer has been a busy one for KJ as she kickstarts her commonwealth games campaign with team England this weekend in the women’s 3×3 competition in Glasgow. Being named to Team England for a such prestigious event is a testament to KJ’s professionalism, talent and development over recent seasons.
In the 2025/26 season, KJ put up impressive numbers. In a leading role for the team, KJ contributed 13.7 points per game, combined with 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals, showcasing her ability to compete at the very top on both ends of the floor.
Upon signing a new deal, KJ commented:
“I’m excited to sign back with Riders for next season.”
“Although the end result wasn’t what we wanted as a team, I feel like we built good foundations to develop on moving into next season. With the addition of a few new people and our returning players I think we can continue to develop as a team and be competitive in the league.”

“She’s been a top player in the league for the last couple of seasons and one of the most talented British players. We’re looking forward to seeing her continue to develop this coming campaign and contribute on both ends of the floor.”
