The Leicester Riders’ strong finish to the 2025–26 regular season has been recognised across the league, with both Flynn Boardman-Raffet and Rob Paternostro receiving the SLB Player and Coach of the Month awards for April.
Recently named in the British Team of the Season, Boardman-Raffet has enjoyed an outstanding run of form since taking over club captaincy in the absence of Spencer Johnson. Throughout April, the young British star recorded five performances of 20 points or more, including a superb 30-point display against the Sheffield Sharks on 30 April.
Already voted the Leicester Riders Supporters Club Player of the Season, Boardman-Raffet has become a fan favourite across the campaign, and this latest honour is further recognition of both his impact and importance to the team.
Following an impressive month, Coach Paternostro was also recognised with the Super League Basketball Coach of the Month award. The Riders faced a demanding schedule in April, playing nine games across the month, but under Paternostro’s leadership the team finished with a 5–4 record to secure fifth place in the league standings heading into the playoffs.
Despite the setbacks faced throughout a challenging campaign, the Riders found form at the perfect time, highlighted by impressive road victories in both Sheffield and Newcastle. Paternostro’s side showed resilience throughout the month, battling through adversity to claim crucial wins against tough opposition.
The Riders return to action on Sunday for the second leg of their playoff semi-final against the London Lions at the Copper Box Arena. Fans can watch the game live on DAZN UK from 4pm.
