The Leicester Riders return to the Mattioli Arena on Friday night as they take on the Cheshire Phoenix, with tip-off set for 7:30pm.
Fresh from an impressive 80–78 victory on the road against the Surrey 89ers, the Riders will look to carry their momentum into what promises to be another thrilling matchup in front of the home crowd Cavalry..
Riders Building Form
After back-to-back wins against the Newcastle Eagles and Surrey 89ers, the Riders are beginning to find their rhythm, with Head Coach Rob Paternostros’ new additions already making an impact on court.
Donald Carey Jr has quickly settled into life in Riders red, putting in another strong all-round performance in Surrey with 13 points and 6 assists. Meanwhile, RaeQuan Battle continued his outstanding run of form, leading the way with 27 points in that victory as he was named TrophiesPlusMedals Player of the Game — showing his ability to take over games on both ends of the floor.
The Riders’ recent performances have been defined by togetherness and balance. Contributions from Tomiwa Sulaiman, Emmanuel Akot, and Aaron Menzies have added depth, while Travis Evee’s composure at the point continues to guide the offence with confidence.
Head Coach Rob Paternostro’s side will be eager to build on that growing chemistry and make it three wins in a row as they return home to the Mattioli Arena.

Cheshire Phoenix hot start
Cheshire Phoenix arrive in Leicester with a strong start to the season, as they sit 2nd in the Championship standing after a 5 and 3 win record after a series of competitive performances against Bristol Flyers. Known for their fast-paced offence and perimeter threat, Phoenix will look to test the Riders’ defensive focus.
Patrick Robinson has been a key spark for Cheshire, consistently leading their scoring efforts and attacking the basket with purpose. Skyler White provides a different kind of threat — a sharpshooter from deep capable of changing a game in moments if left open.
The Riders defence will need to stay disciplined and control the tempo against a Phoenix side that thrives in transition.
