Leicester Riders Women are excited to announce the signing of British forward Alex Baker ahead of the 2025-26 SLB Women’s season.
Baker is no stranger to the Riders organisation, having been a member of the academy programme at Charnwood College prior to heading stateside to play for Lynn University in NCAA Division 2 before transferring to Minot state. During her time at Charnwood, Baker was a WEABL Champion and led the league in average blocks at 3.8 per game.
As part of her deal with the Riders, Baker will continue her studies at Loughborough University. The club would like to once again put on record their appreciation for the continued support from Loughborough University.
Head Coach Nick Moodey commented:
“We’re really excited to welcome Alex to the Riders family.”
“She brings size, versatility, and a defensive presence that will immediately strengthen our front court. Her experience playing both in the UK system and in the U.S. collegiate game has prepared her well to compete at this level. Beyond her physical tools, Alexandra has shown a great attitude and a real commitment to developing her game, which fits perfectly with the culture we’re building here at Leicester.”
Baker added:
“I’m really excited to return to Leicester and Loughborough after studying and playing in America. After some time away from the game, I’m grateful for the chance to return and compete again.”
