Leicester Riders are delighted to announce the signing of American forward Johnny O’Neil ahead of the 2025–26 British Basketball League season.
The 6’10” forward arrives in Leicester following a strong senior year at Santa Clara Broncos playing in NCAA Division I, where he averaged 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game across 34 appearances. O’Neil led the team in blocks and rebounds, while shooting 43.2% from the field and an impressive 39.6% from three-point range.
Before Santa Clara, O’Neil played three seasons at American University Eagles, where he was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and posted career averages of 10.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Known for his combination of size, athleticism and shooting ability, he adds versatility and presence on both ends of the court.

O’Neil added:

This latest addition adds size, shooting and defensive presence to the Riders’ roster as preparations continue for the new season.
